About the Event
In the light of envisioning a Nigeria where all citizens can read, write and access information that are of great benefit to their needs, make meaningful contributions to societal growth and development; provide empowerment for sustainable development and self-reliance, NOGALSS in collaboration with SOHO24 Foundation and the Association of Wives of FCT Traditional Rulers on the 4th of October, 2021 at SOHO24 Sports Park, Gwarimpa Express Way, near AA Rano Filling Station, officially open the first NOGALSS Sustainable Livelihood and Empowerment Center (N-SLEC).
Having implemented different models of literacy programmes in the last couple of years, NOGALSS has identified some gaps in some of the existing models hence the proposal for this laudable initiative. This Center (N-SLEC) is incorporating Livelihood, Empowerment and Sustainability approaches. Within the period of their learning, they are going to be equipped with reading, writing and livelihood skills. We will be preparing them for Central Bank of Nigeria Financial Inclusion for empowerment. We are not only desirous to train every of our learners but we shall much more see to their financial empowerment through all possible means. The beneficiaries of this initiative are women, girls, boys, men and people with special needs in all States of the Federation and FCT.
In attendance, we have the gracious presence of the National President of NOGALSS, Comrade Noah Emmanuel, the Queen of Garki, Her Majesty Mrs Gimbiya Hannatu Usman Nda, Traditional Rulers from Gbagi kingdom, District Head of Kadokuchi, Alhaji Suleiman Dodo, the Chairperson of SOHO24 Foundation, Chris Opara, NOGALSS National Literacy Coordinator, Dr Kenneth Akoh, NOGALSS National Officers, ASO Radio, Mrs. Queen Ile Emeje, Radio Nigeria, Mrs Julian Osamato, News Agency of Nigeria etc.
At this maiden NOGALSS Sustainable Livelihood and Empowerment Center (N-SLEC), 40 Learners were available for the commencement of basic literacy and post literacy classes. Learning Materials were presented to the learners and curriculum for basic and post literacy scheme to the instructors. Learning setting was clearly demonstrated.
Our presence has demonstrated our common believe of Education through Cooperation as no one can do it alone. The service to humanity is service to God. Nigeria must be delivered from the shackles of illiteracy and poverty through our cooperation for literacy development and promotion of self-reliance. We give God all the glory for the success of the inauguration of the first NOGALSS Sustainable livelihood Empowerment Center (N-SLEC).
