About the Event
THE MAIDEN EDUCATIONAL MERIT AWARD OF EXCELLENCE AND INDUCTION INTO NOGALSS HALL OF FAME 2022 HELD AT NAF CONFERENCE CENTRE, KADO ESTATE ON THE 14TH DECEMBER, 2022
This event marks an important epoch in our collective strive towards ensuring that all Nigerians are literate. Available statistics have it that over Eighteen Million (18,000,000) Nigerians of our children and youth bracket are out of school. You will also agree with me that this is alarming. This has strongly contributed to our choice of theme to this event as:
Revolutionizing Mass Education Delivery in Nigeria. A Strategic Focus For National Development.
The National President Comrade Noah Emmanuel, on behalf of Non-Governmental Association for Literacy Support Services (NOGALSS) thank everyone present or represented at the event for being in the fore front of the dogged fight to eradicate illiteracy from our land and climes.
Many of you have sacrificially contributed to the development of Educational Sector of Nigeria. You are the real hope for this and future generation of all Nigerians who are the most contextually vulnerable among our populace. I want to say thank you. This is what has informed us in deciding to give you the Excellence Award and induct you into NOGALSS Hall of Fame 2022.
The high point of the event was the unveiling of the proposed NOGALSS LITERACY VILLAGE project, to be located in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria and the investiture of BoT Chairman, Grand Patron, Patrons and Matrons.
Activities in the Literacy Village will not only promote the acquisition of literacy skills but will also encourage Life Long Learning. The Literacy Village will be a true embodiment for encouraging the reading culture, practice and documentation of indigenous knowledge, technologies and trades. Indigenous languages will be as well developed.
The NOGALSS Literacy Village and its affiliate communities will be empowered to pursue sustainable development.
As a Non-Governmental Association, our efforts to compliment government’s initiatives in the development and enhancement of Non-Formal Education is entire and unequalled.
We appreciate the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Education, National Mass Education Commission (NMEC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and our development partners: UNESCO and other UN Agencies, NATCOM-UNESCO and others who have held our hands and collaboratively supported us all through the years.
Together we shall win the fight against illiteracy in Nigeria.
Comrade Noah Emmanuel
National President
