NOGALSS National President Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Literacy at Ministerial Press Briefing on International Literacy Day!

The National President of the Nigerian Non-Governmental Association for Literacy Support Services (NOGALSS), Comrade Noah Emmanuel, joined stakeholders at the Ministerial Press Briefing organized by the National Mass Education Commission (NMEC) to mark the 2025 International Literacy Day (ILD) held on September 8, 2025, in Abuja.

The Honourable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, in her keynote address, re-emphasized the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to building a literate Nigeria in line with this year’s ILD theme: “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era.”

Comrade Noah Emmanuel congratulated the Acting Executive Secretary of NMEC, Dr. John Edeh, describing him as a seasoned administrator whose wealth of experience and long-standing service in the Commission would undoubtedly advance its mandate.

Speaking further, the NOGALSS President reassured the organization’s readiness to work hand-in-hand with the Federal Ministry of Education, NMEC, and other partners to strengthen literacy programs across the country. “We reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that no learner, no community, and no Nigerian is left behind in the journey towards inclusive literacy and lifelong learning,” Comrade Emmanuel stated.

The event brought together key stakeholders in education, development partners, civil society organizations, and the media to reflect on strategies for accelerating literacy development in Nigeria, particularly in adapting to the challenges and opportunities of the digital era.
