NOGALSS AND OTHER SPOTLIGHT SECOND CHANCE IMPLEMENTING PARTNERS CONDUCT STAKEHOLDERS MEETING
The Stakeholders Meeting to kick-start the implementation of ACCELERATED SECOND CHANCE EDUCATION for Girls and Young Women living in intersect conditions was held at the UN House, Diplomatic Drive, Central District Area Abuja recently.
Participants were drawn from the Five Spotlight States of: (Adamawa, Cross River, Ebonyi, Lagos, Sokoto and FCT), Representatives of UN Agencies (UNESCO, UNDP, UN-WOMEN and UNICEF) were present. Present also at the meeting were Government officials, Commissioners of Education, Women Affairs and Finance. Other Government Agencies that graced the event include State Agencies for Mass Education (SAMEs) and FCT Department for Mass Education (DME).
The Stakeholders' Meeting was to acquaint stakeholders with the modalities of implementation of the Project. Furthermore, to sensitize the Stakeholders on the need for Gender-Base Violence (GBV) and other Gender Inequalities and Marginalisation; solicit the commitment of stakeholders for implementation and sustainability in the States of the Federation and FCT.
Members of the implementing Civil Society Organizations:- Grassroots Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition (GESA), Education Today for Sustainable Development Initiative ( ETSDI) and Non- Governmental Association for Literacy Support Services (NOGALSS) jointly organized the meeting which was well attended as no Zone was left unrepresented!
Stakeholders had fruitful discussions and/or deliberations aimed at improving the second phase of the ACCELERATED SECOND CHANCE EDUCATION Project. The Stakeholders were committed to leveraging on existing Structures for the successful implementation and sustainable efforts at empowering Women and Girls. Stakeholders also resolved their committed to impact dividend of the Project on more Girls and Women than targeted by the Project.
NOGALSS looks forward to a very successful and timely implementation of this Project.
