Who We Are?

Global Health Awareness Research Foundation (GHARF) is a non-governmental, non-political, and humanitarian organization established in 1996 with head office in Enugu, South East, Nigeria. The aim of the organization is to fill gaps identified in health care delivery, especially in the area of information dissemination on Sexuality and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues and communicable disease prevention among adolescents and women.

Our Vision

To see a society where women and adolescents are free from sexuality and reproductive health problems and their rights recognized.

Our Mission

To empower women and adolescents economically and with correct information on sexuality and reproductive health issues and rights through education, research documentation, service provision, and income generation activities.

Our Goals

To carry out massive public awareness and health education campaigns on sexuality and reproductive health issues including HIV and AIDS, tropical diseases prevention and control including malaria in schools and communities through the training of peer educators and formation of school health clubs and community-based health educators.

 

To train peer educators in schools and communities and involve them in information dissemination on sexuality and reproductive health issues among adolescents and women.

 

To organize train the trainer’s leadership and capacity building workshops for women CBOs and build their capacity to advocate for the elimination of harmful traditional practices as well as to equip them with skills and information needed to step down the training to members of their CBOs.

 

To organize vocational skills acquisition training workshops and other poverty alleviation programs for income generation as well as offer microcredit to beneficiaries.
