NOGALSS Sustainable Livelihood Empowerment Programme
NOGALSS has initiated N-SLEC having implemented different models of literacy programmes in the last couple of years. The organization has identified some gaps in some of the existing models hence the proposal to launch this initiative. The proposed model shall incorporate the following components:
Member organizations, associations and individuals as well as states, local governmental areas, wards have been mobilized to set up N-SLEC Model Centres where literacy, skill acquisition, livelihood based on identified capabilities of learners, available resources and opportunities for pursuing individual and household economic goals are being pursued. Skills and livelihood training is being considered a veritable tool for poverty reduction in urban and rural areas through the instrumentality of awareness creation and mass mobilization in literacy. This is aimed at empowering the people and supporting the people to take control and responsibility for their own lives. NOGALSS aims at sustainability of the N-SLEC Model where the needs of our present generation are met without compromising the needs of the ability of our future generations to meet their own needs. In view of the above components, NOGALSS expects these centers to raise a generation of learners equipped with livelihood skills that can make up a pool of master trainers for the next generation of learners.
